CONFIDENTIAL Quality Control Supervisor


Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Quality Control, the Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the control of non-conforming materials, evaluating production process issues, and recommending improvements. They will also assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs to meet production standards and customer requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure plant compliance with our quality certification.
  • Ensure that materials, processes, and finished products meet the organization’s established quality standards.
  • Assist the QC Manager with Material Review Committee activities.
  • Organize and participate in quality audits, conducted by internal or external auditors. Structure and track corrective actions.
  • Monitor metrics and key performance indicators to identify non-conformance trends and initiate plant-wide quality improvement plans.
  • Prepare and present reports to inform senior management of the plant’s quality status and operations.
  • Work closely with production managers (value stream managers) to implement quality metrics/KPIs in production cells to resolve quality issues and help cells achieve on-time delivery targets and reduce rework costs. Assist the QC
  • Manager in implementing internal procedures and quality work instructions.
  • Support the activities of other departments (testing, painting, non-destructive testing, final inspections, etc.).
  • Participate in departmental meetings to provide support as needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school and/or college diploma in a technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in quality control, ideally in a pressure vessel manufacturing environment (valves, piping, etc.).
  • 2 to 3 years of office and/or unionized staff management experience (asset).
  • Knowledge of relevant ASME/ASTM specifications.
  • Knowledge of QA manuals and practices regarding manufacturing, certification, marking, and stamping requirements applicable to products.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME B16.34, ISO 9001).
  • Green Belt or higher is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a matrix structure.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Bilingualism – French and English.
