The SAP Center of Excellence (CoE) Department Head reports to the Director of Solution Management and is instrumental in the management and growth of the CoE. The person ensures that the governance and application lifecycle management (ALM) processes are optimized, meet the business needs and support the business directions of our client’s organization.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES :

  • Collaborate with Solution Management and business partners to ensure the continued evolution and development of CoE capabilities, roles and responsibilities;

  • Advocate for the CoE’s role within the organization by highlighting their contributions to the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives;

  • Build strong relationships and liaise with business partners and the ownership community to ensure a high level of synergy and collaboration;

  • Provide thought leadership for application lifecycle management activities to implement best practices, thereby improving the value delivered;

  • Contribute to the culture of continuous integrations and deployments of the application teams to support continuous improvement goals;

  • Support and lead the adoption of appropriate policies, standards, guidelines and processes to drive process standardization across CoE platforms;

  • Lead the development and adoption of application development and configuration practices including these processes: design, release, change, quality assurance, testing, deployment, knowledge management, and training;

  • Identify and make recommendations regarding required technology and automation processes and support;

  • Recommend and promote the education of team members to increase the expertise and functional capabilities of the systems behind the innovation, simplification and improved adoption of the products by end-users, resulting in improved value realization;

  • In collaboration with the architecture department, establish the action plan for SAP technology advancements, including S4 and cloud solutions;

  • Support team members and business service departments in the design of new support materials based on revised processes, including training, information delivery and system enhancements;

  • Support improvement initiatives from assessment to deployment of solutions and ensure monitoring tools are in place to ensure the sustainability of process improvements;

  • Establish and track budgets for minor improvement initiatives;

  • Develop and use frameworks to measure the value and effectiveness of information technology (IT);

  • Develop and use appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance with governance process standards and change management processes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience managing business transformation programs;
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, including application lifecycle management, team management (coaching, mentoring, training, etc.) and organizational change management;
  • Experience in implementing operational IT practices, and in defining and writing standards, guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Experience working with IT and business departments on policy, technology, customer experience and organizational change management activities;
  • Experience with SAP ECC and S4/HANA technologies;
  • Experience with the IT world: IT Value assessment, investment optimization, strategy planning and design of organizational structures and governance frameworks;
  • Experience with the software development life cycle, working with the waterfall model and agile methods;
  • Experience in reviewing policies and procedures that directly impact the business and may affect the entire business;
  • Skills in risk management, business continuity management and process improvement tools and techniques;
  • Creativity combined with strong conceptual and analytical skills to develop and present new ideas, approaches and solutions;
  • Good priority management and ability to adapt in response to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization;
  • PMP certification, ITIL certification or equivalent certifications an asset;
  • Ability to work in French and English (written and oral).
