Engineering Manager (Major Projects EPC - EPCM)

Our client is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join their team in Montreal. Reporting to the VP Engineering & Operation, you will be managing and growing a team of engineers and designers. You will be responsible for keeping projects on track, solving technical issues and acting as an overall leader for the team. You will lead the technical and organizational aspects.

Specific to this role, you will:
• Keep the team members motivated, ensure their professional growth and well-being
• Improve engineering quality and efficiency
• Lead and align engineering team with our client’s vision
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary peers and leaders to deliver projects
• Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering team to use
• Manage and develop Design Personnel
• Communicate and implement the Quality Policy and Objectives
• Review all Design Project Plans and ensure content meets requirements of DP01
• Manage Project Design Managers and assist where required
• Identify competence and infrastructure requirements for the Design Process and Projects
• Review and analyse the Design Process periodically and as required for each Project
• Ensure the records in Design Procedure are accessible and up to date for each Project
• Management of internal and external relationships with key stakeholders
• Accurately assess management effectiveness
• Identify relevant and appraisable components of effective management
• Report progress of Design Projects: fortnightly
• Performance appraisal of all direct subordinate: Once/year
• Design Process analysis and review: Once/ year (and as required per project)
• 100% Close Out of Design Process actions identified via internal and external audits

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE ROLE
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• At least 10 years + experience in a related field
• Experience in the resource mining industries
• Registered for Eng license with the OIQ
• Strong experience in Mentoring and People Management Skills;
• Deliver a quality product on schedule and within budget
• Possess a strong understanding of applicable codes of practice
• Ability to read and interpret all types of engineering drawings
• Strong perception and implementation of HSE
• Ability to be sufficiently flexible and resourceful to cope with the inherent load fluctuations of the Profession
