In collaboration with the Vice President and the management team, and supported by your team members, you will be responsible for all human resources activities for the 3 establishments on the South Shore of Montreal.

Your role:

  • Lead and develop the HR team (3 consultants and 3 technicians) by providing support and coaching so that they have the tools and resources necessary to successfully meet objectives.
  • Coach all managers to fully assume their coaching position (development plan) to ensure their effectiveness.
  • Manage the skills development process by ensuring that training needs are covered: discipline, performance, human issues, labour relations, OHS.
  • Develop strategies and implement programs related to skills development, organizational development, attraction and retention, compensation and benefits, occupational health and safety and employee relations.
  • Ensures the application of labour standards and conditions and provides advice on the interpretation and application of collective agreements.
  • Act as management’s representative for union issues (employee rights, health and safety, etc.) and conduct negotiations of collective agreements
  • Resolve problematic or conflictual situations. Ensure that action is taken as soon as labour relations issues are brought to his/her attention.
  • Ensure the legal follow-up of current or future files (grievances and others).
  • Organize and lead labour relations committees and implement improvement projects in the prevention of work-related accidents in collaboration with managers in compliance with CNESST requirements.
  • Coordinate official communications to employees, internal events and activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective talent acquisition and retention strategies. Support the development of a healthy internal culture that retains key employees and encourages their professional development.
  • Organize and monitor the onboarding of new employees and ensure broader employee engagement across the organization.
  • Develop a competitive and fair compensation policy (pay equity, competition from the public network, situation with agencies, etc.).
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and ensure the development of initiatives to improve quality of work life and engagement.
  • Manage the entire recruitment process for executive and administrative positions. Contact personnel agencies, negotiate and sign contracts as required.
  • Work in collaboration with the payroll department to ensure compliance with collective agreements, labour standards, employment contract content and departmental guidelines.
  • Develop and/or manage various benefit programs.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or industrial relations.
  • The CHRP designation (Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés) is an asset.
  • 7 years experience as a human resources generalist in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to work on a variety of files simultaneously.
  • Sense of priorities, high level of efficiency, rigor and adaptability to change.
  • Resourceful, idea-driven, challenge-oriented individual.
  • Demonstrate leadership, experience in continuous improvement, and standardization of best practices and processes.
  • Collaborative spirit, strong teamwork and engagement skills, and ability to build and maintain lasting interpersonal relationships.
  • Management style based on communication, accountability, development, coaching and consultation.
  • Fluency in French (oral and written) and fluency in English.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office and agility with technological tools.
