  • Designs and reviews mechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods

Minimum qualification:

  • BSc/BEng Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Masters degree will be advantageous Registration as Pr Eng will be advantageous

Minimum experience:

  • At   least  2  years  of relevant  mechanical engineering experience
  • Project Management experience is an advantage
Customer Satisfaction ·      Projects are defined and are completed within agreed time frames

·      Customer satisfaction of end result of projects is measured

Production Support ·      Product divisions are supported with automation and selection of manufacturing equipment and technologies

·      Assist with production mould issues / problems / designs as required by the product divisions

·      Opportunities for improving production methods and ergonomics are identified and submitted to the Product Divisions for implementation

Design ·      Product    development    is    completed    which enhances performance and reduces costs

·      New Product design is completed as per customer request or approved innovation and formal report details results

Testing, Analysis and Material Science ·      Material selection and specification is analysed, tested and compared to other materials and report is produced for approval or decline

·      Material standards and specifications are compiled, made available and maintained

·      Failure analyses are completed in time and reported on

Engineering Projects ·      Projects are completed in accordance with agreed customer expectations (SOW, Time and Standard)

·      All project related documentation i.e., correspondence, meeting minutes, contracts, purchase orders, reports, quality related documentation etc. are identified and stored per project (hard copies and/or electronically) as per departmental standards

Compliance ·      Quality Management system is maintained in accordance to Quality Policy and Objectives

·      Technical    Specifications,    Markings    and Drawings    are maintained as per departmental procedure

·      Welding specifications and methods are assessed and reviewed

Safety ·      Safety Management of MPE is adhered to

·      Evaluate equipment and production methods in order to improve safety

·      Site related safety issues are noted and dealt with or escalated to relevant parties

Presenting: Delivers presentations that are professional and audience specific

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Product knowledge: Displays advanced understanding of the company’s products and pricing in relation to job output Engineering and technology: Displays knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology 3D technology is utilised for the prototyping of products by utilising the Romer arm and 3D printing

Is able to do validations and verifications of designs

Is able to complete stress analysis using FEA software Is able to generate and detail designs in CAD
