Operations Manager – Water Treatment
Having built a solid reputation thanks to its mining expertise both in Canada and internationally, our client offers a wide range of services including water treatment. For this department of over 40 people, we are looking for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for implementing the company’s mission through the department’s operational strategy.

Reporting to the Vice President your Role and responsibilities:
Ensure the sustainability of the business, deploy the necessary means for growth and monitor the department’s financial and strategic trends and results.
Management of day-to-day operations:
- Supervises project planning and ensures the organization of manpower and material resources.
- Controls the financial management of projects including billing and collection cycles.
- Supports the team of middle managers under his/her responsibility in day-to-day operations.
- Supervises the maintenance of the team’s performance and promotes efficiency and performs the follow-up and planning of the department’s revenues and expenses.
Human Resources Management:
- Validates the needs and participates in the execution of the department’s hiring plan.
- Supervises the process of welcoming and integrating new resources into the department.
- Ensures performance evaluations, follow-up on the training plan and promotes the development of middle managers.
- Ensures the harmonious maintenance of organizational relations, for an exceptional climate.
- Provides exceptional leadership for constant team mobilization.
- Ensures management of basic disciplinary interventions and supports the Director for release steps as needed.
Contrôle qualité :

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS):
- Controls and ensures the application of OHS standards and procedures at all times.
- Supervises or conducts investigations related to OHS situations.
- Implements and supervises periodic OHS awareness activities for the team.
- Acts as an ambassador of OHS values for his/her team.
- Ensures the complete integration of external resources to the department according to the specific requirements related to the department’s activities.
Sales Activity:
- Provides ad-hoc support to representation activities as required by the Director or Cluster of Excellence.
- Ensures excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
- Supports the bidding process of his sector, and validates the conformity of the documents produced for the service offers of his department.
Procurement and Materials Management:
- Oversees the procurement process for the department and projects in accordance with company policies.
- Directly supervises major purchases.
- Ensures compliance of interactions with the corporate purchasing department.
- Oversees the process of receiving, handling and when necessary, re-routing of merchandise.
Continuous Improvement:
- Encourages, coaches and ensures documentation of the team’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures the implementation of projects and the maintenance of processes related to the department’s continuous improvement.
- Implements and manages a continuous improvement process, according to the directives of the
- Director, or the corporate standards in place.
In collaboration with the Assistant Director, you will also oversee:
Inventory Management: Participates in the development of an effective inventory management process. Supervises the implementation of the inventory management system. Ensures the maintenance of activities related to the proper functioning of the system.
External Services: Communicates with the Technical Services Department of the Water Treatment Division and plans professional support needs. Supervises resources according to project needs. Ensures departmental participation in Technical Services Department coordination meetings. Supervises contractual agreements for subcontractors and validates their technical aspects.
Qualifications and Skills Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in administration or equivalent degree.
- 5 years experience in team management (strategy, business growth and vision)
- Advanced knowledge of water treatment operations, dredging/dewatering and treatment plant construction.
- Basic knowledge of water treatment process chemistry and operations optimization.
- Mastery of the fundamentals of industrial health and safety;
- Advanced understanding of project management concepts: schedule, budget, quality and amendment management.
- Mastery of the financial cycle of projects in terms of invoicing, management of accruals and work-in-progress and accounts receivable tracking.
- Strong commercial skills in client negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple teams, operating on multiple sites and on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Basic accounting skills and knowledge of Ms Office software, particularly Ms Excel.
- Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt management style to the different personalities of the team.
- Measure and track departmental performance.
- Follows processes and uses tools to facilitate the completion of projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
