Payroll Administrator
As Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for payroll processes, computing wages, and ensuring that employees’ salaries are paid correctly and on schedule. You will also performing day-to-day payroll duties for all employees, as well as maintaining the Ceridian (Dayforce) system for new employees, updating employee files and terminations.
Responsibilities:
- Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll related matters.
- Managing electronic timekeeping systems or manually collecting and reviewing timesheets.
- Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.
- Preparing and issuing earnings statements.
- Issuing paychecks and managing direct deposits.
- Maintaining employee records.
- Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data.
- Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.
- Managing third party remittances (DAS, Garnishments, WCB/CSST, VRSP, etc.).
- Ensuring the proper functioning of the various programs related to payroll (commissions, bonuses, employee referencing, etc.).
- Updating all CNESST / WCB files including data related to pay equity and training.
- Preparing and issuing monthly reports as needed and respond to inquiries from employees.
- Participating in the various special projects of the department.
Preferred Qualifications and Desired Experience include:
- 2 years experience in Canadian payroll
- Experience in US payroll, an important asset
- Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred
- Fluent in French and English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software programs
- Knowledge of Dayforce system, an asset
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
- Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
