Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Owner in Montreal is responsible for defining and maintaining software product backlogs, a prioritized list of features, enhancements, and fixes that need to be developed. They work closely with stakeholders, customers, and the development team to gather requirements and ensure that product backlog items are well-defined and aligned with project goals.
Key Responsibilities as a Product Owner
- Act as the customer’s voice for software product decisions
- Develop detailed roadmaps for each SW product.
- Collect requirements from the roadmap and NPI projects
- Collect requirements for non-NPI features, enhancements, third-party integrations, etc.
- Collect feedback from users and non-users, leveraging current user engagement with the products
- Prioritize the software development backlog for each release and the current release train.
- Work closely with sales, customer service, and customers to test new releases and gather feedback.
- Work closely with software development teams to drive adoption of agile software development best practices.
- Work closely with IT on software application infrastructure requirements.
Qualifications as a Product Owner
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (technical or analytical field a plus)
- 5+ years of experience in software product management.
- Familiarity with agile product and software development techniques, methodologies, and tools, including customer alpha/beta testing tools.
- Software development experience is a plus
- Experience with mobile applications
- Experience with Atlassian suite (e.g. Jira) is highly desirable
- Experience with IoT products/solutions is highly desirable
- Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using real-world data to support hypotheses and develop business cases.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Technical training with knowledge of software development and web technologies
- Bilingualism (French and English) – oral and written.
