Sales Director (CAPEX equipment)

Reporting to General Management, the incumbent is responsible for leading and implementing the sales process for CAPEX capital projects, i.e. new equipment and specialized products, as well as business development for the company. She is also responsible for the management and development of the sales team. To do so, he/she ensures the performance and achievement of sales objectives by supporting and carrying out operations with current and potential customers.

The position also requires the individual to:

Supervising the sales process and execution projects.

  • Ensure effective management of all CAPEX projects through to execution;
  • Manage the coordination and participate in the complete sales cycle of CAPEX equipment, from sale to delivery to the customer;
  • Supervise and participate in the after-sales service to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction;
  • Participate in the start-up of equipment at the customer’s site (i.e. delivery, test period, problem resolution, etc.);
  • Organize and make regular visits to current and potential customers to ensure their satisfaction, mainly in North America and sometimes internationally;
  • Make quotations with potential customers and ensure their follow-up;
  • Collect sales and performance results from the sales team;
  • Produce monthly sales reports, including all other relevant statistics related to the sales team’s achievements;
  • Provide sales results, performance and forecasts to the immediate superior so that they can be communicated to the company in question;
  • Actively participates in setting sales objectives, allocating and developing budgets and managing forecasts;
  • Review and update all budget revisions;
  • Establish and execute short and long term sales strategies;
  • In collaboration with the finance team, audit expenses including travel, customer visits, etc;
  • Provide recommendations based on results;
  • Facilitate meetings, including those related to ongoing projects, work sessions, working groups, etc., several times a week;
  • Ensure effective communication between all team members to ensure consistency in practices.

Team Management

  • Lead and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed sales and customer retention objectives;
  • Coordinate the activities of each member of the sales team to optimize the sales and representation of the organization throughout North America;
  • Guide the team in their decision making and action;
  • Ensure regular supervision of the team (including follow-up and evaluation meetings);
  • Be involved in the decision making process related to recruitment;
  • Develop a high potential team, aware of their duties and responsibilities;
  • Ensure all other tasks related to the management of the team’s human resources.

Strategic vision of the organization

  • Hold regular meetings with the management committee to determine priorities and business orientations;
  • Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning and actively participate in its implementation;
  • Ensure good cohesion within the management committee;
  • Advise and influence the management of the organization as a member of the executive team;
  • Be aware of the various issues that may have an impact on the mining and mineral processing sector;
  • Ensure the organization’s brand image is maintained.

Business Development

  • Implement initiatives to grow the organization’s business development;
  • Lead the sales process to develop relationships with existing customers and obtain new customers;
  • Collaborate internally with other members to secure new national markets;
  • Identify and develop business opportunities and potential distribution partners;
  • Ensure adequate and effective commercial coverage of the North American territory;
  • Participate in promotional activities to promote the organization and its products throughout North America (including presentations,
  • conferences, information sessions or other activities organized by players in the mining industry, including consulting engineering
  • firms, and customers);
  • Conduct visits to current and potential customers to promote the products;
  • Act as a representative of the company with clients and the organization’s sector of activity;
  • Perform all other tasks related to the management of the team’s human resources.

The incumbent may also be called upon to perform any other related tasks or projects.

YOUR PROFILE AND TALENTS

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining, chemical, mechanical engineering or other related program;
  • Ten (10) years of experience in mining engineering or mineral processing;
  • Five (5) years experience in administration, project management or sales (an asset);
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written; knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (an asset);
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Windows 365;
  • Intermediate knowledge of ERP software, such as JDE;
  • Good knowledge of mining or mineral processing (an asset).
