Our mining client is looking for a Director – Finance, Accounting and Control to manage the financial and accounting functions and provide them with strategic direction. It will need to ensure that processes, procedures and systems contribute to the effective execution of corporate strategies and the creation of shareholder value. He will work with the senior management team to develop the overall financial strategy and optimize and manage the resource allocation, finance and governance of the company’s assets, as well as the development of a succession plan. for the finance team.

Responsibilities:

Supervise all accounting and financial activities:

  • Design and monitor financial plans, budgets, projections, mine plans, controls and accounting practices and ensure compliance with corporate policies and financial regulations;
  • Analyze and review financial reports, budgets, projections and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance; report discrepancies and discrepancies to the Executive Director;
  • Analyze financial performance against business metrics and document relevant financial highlights that will allow management to track progress against budgets;
  • Identify, investigate and analyze opportunities for operational improvements. If necessary, make recommendations and suggestions based on findings to make operational changes (policies, procedures, processes, systems, etc.);
  • Establish expenditure management policies that reflect business practices and enhance site compliance;
  • Oversee and manage the development of electronic finance and operating systems and mine site processes;
  • Develop, supervise and manage balance sheet controls;
  • Establish prescribed financial and accounting practices and ensure compliance with the company’s guidance, policies and accounting processes;
  • Actively participate in annual audits and liaise with auditors at all audits to ensure deadlines are met and financial information is accurate and consistent with industry and business regulations, including taking corrective action to ensure compliance with SOX;
  • Ensure compliance with tax and financial reporting and reporting requirements and the resolution of any tax issues;
  • Supervise the payroll department;
  • Formulate strategic and long-term plans;
  • Conduct analyzes and develop ongoing strategies and CPIs to monitor and track costs to optimize operational performance;
  • Ensure that employees are aware of and know about financial policies, practices and philosophies.

Work with the management team to develop the overall business strategy and objectives of the company:

  • Implement a global strategy for the administrative and financial function, including implementation approaches and cost-benefit analyzes of proposed approaches;
  • Work with senior management and company stakeholders to establish and analyze business needs and the impact on the finance department;
  • Identify gaps, make recommendations and implement targeted solutions;
  • Establish and track budget forecasts and projections and ensure increased margins and good solutions;
  • Fulfill obligations under national and international policies on compliance, reporting and accountability;
  • Develop strategies to minimize financial risks. Analyze market trends and best practices;
  • Establish external relationships with the right contacts, such as auditors, lawyers, bankers and regulators.

Provide leadership to the farm administration team:

  • Build an adequate team through recruitment and development;
  • Actively lead the development of a succession plan with special attention to local and national talent;
  • Provide clear work objectives and performance requirements to achieve business plans and achieve production targets;
  • Ensure that the training provided is consistent with the current and future needs of the company;
  • Manage performance by setting expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback and coaching to direct reports;
  • Promote and perpetuate a culture of high performance;
  • Promote the health and safety culture within the team.
  • Diploma in Finance (BBA, BAA – Accounting Sciences);
  • Professional accounting designation: CA, CGA or CMA or equivalent;
  • 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervision as a senior executive, in a mining context;
  • Analytical mind and superior negotiation skills;
  • Business and commercial intelligence;
  • On the lookout for details and eager to deepen the data review;
  • Ability to respect time constraints and sense of urgency;
  • Proven ability to work in a team and build relationships;
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others;
  • Speak fluently in English and French;
  • Ability to solve problems.
